Svetlana says: "This is a portrait of Sandy Locke, a community specialist nurse caring for Covid patients in London."
Sandy says: "I am truly grateful to Svetlana for this wonderful painting. This image makes me feel proud to be a nurse, on the day lock down was announced I had started my new role as specialist community nurse, the pressure to help maintain my service and protect patients felt overwhelming.
The past four months have been unprecedented, we have been faced with many new and changing situations but the spirit and drive from fellow colleagues and the public has been unwavering. Through these worrisome times has also shown many acts of kindness, we have had face masks and laundry bags handmade and donated, local food outlets provided meals for us, and the wonderul collective of artists who gave up their time to create the most fantastic pieces of memorabilia.
My portrait will always hold a memory of the resilience compassion and determination the NHS has to succeed and I am proud to have been a part of that."
