Saut d'Eau (falling waters in french) or Sodo (in creole) is believed to have been formed after an earthquake in 1842 that cracked the mountain open. In July, Catholics and voodoo worshipers alike gather to celebrate, Our Lady of Mount Carmel, who appeared in Saut d'Eau in 1849.
