In 1920 four sandstone coffins from Roman times were found near Heerlen. The luxury objects they contained had undoubtedly been the property of a lady of the local élite. It is decorated using filigree and granulation techniques: with gold thread and minuscule gold balls, the interstices being filled with blue enamel. The bottle has a gold stopper.
