Sculpture of poet Mary Tighe, Woodstock, Inistioge, Co Kilkenny

This statue of the poet Mary Tighe by the Florentine sculptor Lorenzo Bartolini stood in the entrance hall in Woodstock. Mary Tighe (1772-1810) is best known for her authorship of Psyche, or the Legend of Love (1805). She was unhappily married to her cousin Henry Tighe, MP for Inistioge, and died in Woodstock in 1810.
