Sea turtle hatchling. Sea turtles rely on the temperature of the sand in which the eggs incubate, to determine the hatchling´s gender. Generally, sea turtle eggs take 45-60 days (depending on the species) to develop and hatch.
Due to natural factors, only one or two in every thousand hatchlings survive to adulthood. Even if a turtle is safe at birth, it is at sea where the majority of problems that they are challenged to face, happen.
