The presented seal matrix depicts a half-length figure of a trumpeter standing atop the wall of a city gate flanked by two towers, blowing a horn. The figure wears a doublet and a round-brimmed cap, facing right. Four stars further accentuate his silhouette. His appearance is somewhat reminiscent of a puppet, an impression reinforced by his elongated, stick-like arms ending in small spherical shapes instead of hands. The gate itself, with open doors, is rendered in a similarly schematic manner, constructed from imitation ashlars that evoke the defensive character of fortifications. The field of the seal also bears an inscription encircling the design within the border: SIGILL[um] PROCON[suli] CIVITAS CALIS[siensis] 1725 (Seal of the Mayor of the City of Kalisz, 1725). The inscription is engraved in capital letters, with individual words or their abbreviations separated by rosettes—ornamental elements that resemble the same spherical protrusions as the stylized hands of the trumpeter.
