Georg Wilhelm Timm, an artist of Baltic German origin, was born in Riga, studied and lived in Russia, but spent the second half of his life in Berlin. Every summer he visited his homeland, where he painted nature sceneries of Latvia. This painting shows a landscape with a fisherman's house in Bulduri on the bank of the river Lielupe. The wooden building with a thatched roof, the windmill and the cart are depicted accurately and in detail. This painting creates a feeling of lyrical mood and harmony of rural life.
