Second stage recovery begins

1/31/20: Second stage of retrieval and recovery now underway! Initial assessment is 80% of what we’re retrieving is wet but appears salvageable. 3D paper sculptures from our Fly to Freedom collection of paper sculptures created by survivors of the Golden Venture and original copies of the Chinese American Times, the first Chinese American newspaper published in English, were retrieved. Condition of these objects is unknown.
