The secretary bird is so named because the black feathers on the back of its head resemble a secretary holding a feathered pen to its ear. They feed primarily on insects and rodents, but also hunt lizards and snakes. The secretary bird walks an average of 30 kilometers, and when it finds its prey, it kicks it hard with its long legs and then tramp down to hunt.
