This seed storage jar is probably Northern Paiute (Paviotsa) in origin. The vessel has a round body, pointed base, narrow neck, and two lugs with a cord attached for carrying. The all-over zig-zag pattern is in stitches of peeled and partially unpeeled willow. A seed jar would have been used for dry storage, but this particular piece's highly decorative twining and artistic look suggest it was likely made for sale.
