The 14th century manuscript TCD MS 1316 (H.2.15a) is bound in five volumes and contains Brehon Laws as well as miscellaneous religious, medical and poetic material. Early Irish law, also called Brehon law, comprised the statutes which governed everyday life in Early Medieval Ireland. The oldest surviving law tracts date from the 7th century. Part 2 of the manuscript contains the Senchus Mór, ie. treatises on the laws relating to divisions of tribes in a territory, also those relating to bees, to mills and watercourses, of the seven grades of poets, etc. The text is accompanied with copious interlinear gloss.
