Sandro Chia’s works on paper are an important element of his artistic production. The work donated to the Hospice is part of a series that was shown in Faenza in the exhibition Sandro Chia: Ceramics vs Drawings 1:0, and shows one of the poetic aspects of the artist’s work. The rather solid Harlequin-figure “bursts through” the paper exploding into a thousand colours. The subjects chosen by Sandro Chia come from a range of different origins: mythology and reality, classical art and the cutting edge, photography and film-making – but it is for this very reason that they are able to narrate such fluid contemporary situations, constantly subject to transformation or metamorphosis, without mitigating solutions.
