Series "Dos Feitiços" (Spells)

Made in the early 1970s, the Feitiços (Spells) Series is marked by African linguistic codes. The series includes references to the ideographic language of the Ngoyo people, from the current southern Cabinda, northwestern Angola, as well as elements of Pop art. José de Guimarães' project of "osmosis" of European and African art reinforces the importance of symbol as a mediating element between cultures.
