Mannequin wearing the service dress uniform worn by the Civil Guard on assignment in Cuba and Puerto Rico from 1884 to 1898. When public order deteriorated on the island of Cuba, the Captain General there provisionally organized, with members of the Cuban Army, a commissioned unit of the Civil Guard to integrate the Civil Guard of both Cuba and Puerto Rico with that of Spain, by legal merger. In 1889, three units were established in Cuba and remained until they were sent back to Spain in 1898.
