Sgt. Lawrence A. Provost

Within hours of the attack, Sgt. Lawrence "Larry" Provost, an Army Reserve Soldier from Syracuse, New York, volunteered to help with the search and recovery efforts at Ground Zero. With authority from his unit, the 77th Regional Support Command, he remained working there until 17 September 2001.
