Shakespeare Memorial Theatre, Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire

Elisabeth Scott’s theatre was the first large public building in England designed by a woman. Built 1928-32, it incorporated the surviving part of the 1877-79 theatre that was largely destroyed by fire in 1926.
