The two-layer shawl has been assembled from cigar bands still showing the names of brands such as “Flor Fina” or “Mikado”. Its creator, Rosa Jäckel (1888 – 1980), wife of a print worker in Berlin, was supplied with a new silk ribbon every Sunday when her husband enjoyed a cigar. She collected them and pieced them together into a shawl. Her granddaughter, Ingrid Münchenhagen, ultimately donated this personal item to the museum.
