This artwork was inspired by the story of two friends who had formed a ‘recovery trail’ of whelk shells on Shingle Street beach following a diagnosis of cancer that was later added to by the wider community. Rebecca was inspired by the endurance, resiliency and hope that the trail represented and painted the walls of the 136 Suite in this mental health unit in blue and yellow tones with a pattern of hundreds of whelk shells and cabbages on top.
