Blue silk scarf. Central design on scarf depicts a black swan on a circular yellow background in imitation of a signpost. Text encircling swan on the signpost reads '1962 BRITISH EMPIRE GAMES PERTH'. The signpost is superimposed over an image of the Australian flag on a flagpole. This central design is surrounded by a montage of smaller images of figures participating in sporting events. Sports featured are: rowing, boxing, weightlifting, swimming, running, relay running, and hurdles. Border of scarf consists of artistic representations of the flags of competing countries. Corners of scarf are printed with images of flowers, and the flower in the bottom left hand corner is the floral emblem of Western Australia (red and green kangaroo paw).
