Morphe
Balamand, Lebanon

An inverted conical container with a flat base standing on four legs, a smooth body holding two rows of two circular holes, and a wide opening. Its function includes the storing of any crop needed for the winter provision, and was mainly found in farmers' homes. This silo was used to store bourghul and other provision grains, and its holes were stopped up with cloth, and only opened to release the amount of grains needed. Its shape and construction materials were ideal to protect the stored crops from humidity and other destructive elements.
