Silver Medal from the Louisiana Purchase Exhibition, St. Louis, MO

Depicts architectural tablet inscribed with "Silver Medal" and "Louisiana Purchase Exposition." Two dolphins symbolize the nations' east and west boundaries, the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. An eagle has spread wings over the inscription: "Silver Medal Louisiana Purchase Exposition 1904." Fleur de Lis are at each corner. The other side depicts two females above the date MCMIV (1904). Columbia arms hold the US flag. The maiden at her side representing the Louisiana Purchase Territory, is divesting herself of the cloak of France, the material decorated with bees, the emblem of Napoleon. In the background the rising sun is the dawn of a new era of progress to the nation. Encircling the figures are the words "Universal Exposition-Saint Louis-United States of America."
