The title of this choreography is derived from Gavin Bryars’ music: 'Sinking of the Titanic'. Ohad Naharin himself called it a bombastic title for an intimate work. He did not aim to portray the story of the legendary shipwreck, this was merely a starting point. What matters to him, is that this story is part of Bryars’ composition. It is said that the orchestra kept on playing, while the ship sank. In his composition Gavin Bryars assumed that this was the piece the orchestra played at the time of demise.
