Sissieretta Jones Poster

A poster from 1899 promoting Sissieretta Jones. The poster reads: "The Black Patti | MME M Sissieretta Jones | The Greatest Singer of Her Race." She is depicted wearing a collection of medals pinned to her bodice, which were gifted to her by fans and government officials during her many singing tours. Often reductively referred to as the Black Adelina Patti, Jones was one of the first African American headliners to appear at Carnegie Hall.
