The large, multimedia composition Sisters was first displayed at New York’s Agora Gallery in 2021 as part
of the exhibition A Force for Change. Organized by UN Women, a United Nations organization dedicated to gender equality and women’s empowerment, the show featured works by twenty-six women of African descent in acknowledgment of the important role art by Black women has played in social-justice movements around the world. Depicted in the Shah Garg Collection’s painting are two sisters, a young woman and a child, standing side by side and embracing affectionately.
