Town Designated Tangible Cultural Property
The "syncretism" of Shinto and Buddhism is a unique concept to Japan, and this statue was made with influences from statues of Buddha. With a height of 36.6 cm, this statue forms a pair with the male deity. Made from a single piece of wood, it has a noble appearance with plump cheeks and a small mouth. Presumably newer than the Sitting Statue of a Male Deity, made during Kamakura Period.
