A set of twelve triangular silicone swatches strung together on a metal chain. The silicone swatches are a variety of flesh tones, ranging from dark brown to light pink, representative of the shades available for SkinTones System products. Each swatch is marked with an individual code. When a customer wishes to purchase a SkinTones Systems product, the SkinTones™ Color Swatch Kit is shipped to the customer with instructions for how to choose the closest color to their natural skin tone. After picking their desired tone, the customer is to return the swatches back to the company.
SkinTones System products, developed by A Step Ahead Prosthetics Company, are silicone skins made for covering prostheses. SkinTones System skins are used for cosmesis for limb replacement or other injuries, body parts, as well as for breast replacement and maxillofacial areas including ears and nose. The process of customizing the skins involves determining the patient’s exact skin tone, then creating a silicone skin with the same tone to allow the prosthesis to visually blend to their body. The result is a prosthesis that mimics real human skin, with depth, tone, and detail to match each person’s individual flesh tones.
A Step Ahead Prosthetics™ was founded in 2001 by Erik B. Schaffer in Hicksville, New York. It is the leading prosthetic facility in the United States.
