Snow leopard (Panthera uncia)

Today there are fewer than 7000 snow leopards living in the mountainous regions of Central Asia. Snow leopards are the smallest of the big cats, yet they require huge territories. Again and again they come into conflict with humans, who represent the biggest threat to the species through hunting and destruction of its natural habitat.
