The delicately drooping flowers of snowdrops are the first sign of winter's end. A single white, bell-shaped bloom dangles atop each stem, often blossoming through the snow. The flower earned its genus name, Galanthus, from the Greek words for "milk" and "flower" thanks to its creamy hue.
