Choi Doyoung’s soban (small tray-like table) series “Ok(屋)” was made with the eaves of hanok (traditional Korean homes) as its motif. A traditional design of gujokban (dining table) was designed in a curved form using 3D modelling, precisely modelled through CNC processing, and then interpreted in a contemporary way with diverse colors. In order to emphasize the edge that expresses the line of hanok eaves and curved legs, detailed elements of a traditional soban were boldly removed and almost 30 parts were combined for the structure, which consists of the table top and legs only. The gaedari soban placed in the middle is a vintage product.
