The work of Marian Stępak consists of two forms cut from wooden board, irregular and mutually symmetric, on which the patterned fabric of socks is pulled. The forms are adjacent to each other by the longer straight sides, as if composing their reciprocal reflection, or being the parts of a peculiar diptych. The work, realising a technical formula for the installation or the ready-made, through its flatness and the principle of pulling the material on a sort of stretcher, belongs to the world of painting.
