'Pakhavaj', a percussion instrument is a dual-headed drum instrument to accompany the age-old Hindustani classical 'dhrupad' and 'dhamar' style of music. It came to India during the Mughal era in the early 14th century. The Pakhavaj is known to be the forerunner of tabla.
