It features light-blocking LCD shutters that control the opacity of the screen, although the physical world can be seen in bright outdoor light, giving an augmented reality effect. Academic developers favored its adaptability for wearable computing, but it requires up to 11 W of power, often resulting in backpack-sized systems.
