INTBAU has promoted the creation of the Spanish Network of Traditional Building Crafts Masters, which aims to promote and disseminate traditional building skills. Only a small number of these traditions remain, and their disappearance means the loss of a wealth of knowledge that has been passed down and enriched over generations, and also represents a serious threat to the long-term preservation of the material heritage that they have shaped. This project has resulted in the creation of a national directory and online search engine of the most qualified craftsmen and companies in the various traditional building and restoration trades, recognised in each region as the best in each discipline. This directory is public and can be accessed via the Internet at www.redmaestros.com, so that anyone interested in this service can easily find it. The aim is to give visibility to these masters and to create a source of educational information on the different trades, techniques and materials that make up the identity of each region. More than 2,500 craftsmen have been identified and studied, of which more than 450 have been selected. Once all the necessary information has been gathered, each of them will have their own profile in the web directory.
