This print shows the exterior of Carington Bowles print shop in St. Paul’s Churchyard, London. Bowles was perhaps the most prolific print publisher of the 18th century. Each of the prints illustrated in the window panes of his shop is identifiable. This scene is important for its depiction of how a print-seller illustrated his goods in the window of his shop and is also a valuable resource for clothing styles popular in London in the 1760s.
