St Francis College moved to its location in Milton, Brisbane Queensland in 1936, having previously been situated in Nundah, Brisbane. The Chapel was created in 1912 by architect Robin S Dods and was also known as the Old Bishopsbourne Chapel or the chapel of the Holy Spirit. It is rendered from Brisbane Tuff, a type of rock formed as a result of a volcanic eruption and was added to the Queensland Heritage Register in 1992. The Chapel houses a loft and restored pipe organ which were donated and installed in 1971. Today, it is still common to hear bells ringing and weekday chapel services being conducted.
