State Chariot of the Grand Equerry

The grand equerry, one of the four highest
offices at court, was responsible for all the carriages used by the court, and
this included the organisation of all travel and of the formal processions of
carriages. On such occasions, for example the festive entry of an imperial
bride, he took part himself in this state carriage built around 1790.
