Everywhere. Today’s globalised world is divided into over 200 different countries that are in constant
economic competition with each other. Setting aside the fact that we all share the same
planet and the same resources, each nation pursues its own interests: the enrichment
of one place often means the exploitation of another. Can we change this perspective
while continuing to live in a world divided by 500,000 km of international borders?
The national flag is the symbol of a nation and of its sovereignty over a given territory,
whereas the white flag symbolises the surrender of nation-states and the need to start
talking to each other. The flag designed by Folder thus travels across borders in order
to spread the news. The aim is to obtain a World Passport, the object that will take the place
of the flag. First thought up in 1954 by Garry Davis, a Second World War pilot and later
a fervent pacifist, this passport represents our inalienable right to freedom of movement,
as stated in Article 13 (2) of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights: “Everyone has
the right to leave any country, including his own, and to return to his country.”
