As it is rooted in South African boot dance, "Stepping" holds a significant cultural value in the African American experience. It is not only a form of dance, but also a form of expression. It goes beyond physical limitations of footwork and hand gestures and delves deeper into aspects of confidence and unity.

The intensity in the dancers' movement completely engulfs the space they encompass and the scale becomes magnified when involving multiple participants. Cyrus performed a step routine on top of the paper, with charcoal powder underneath her boots, leaving behind fading footprints. From there, she drew the women’s fierce moves and expressions.
