Urach, began between 1470–1480 and continued until around 1494 (?)

The booklet is one of the very few preserved sample-books for book illumination of the Middle Ages. It contains studies and copies of miniatures, initials, vinescrolls, acanthus-leaves, birds and other decorative elements used in illuminated manuscripts. The illuminator Stephan Schriber worked at the court of Eberhard V the Bearded (1445 – 1496, Count of Württemberg-Urach, as of 1495 Duke of Württemberg). This booklet shows his knowledge of different European styles found in Germany, the Netherlands, Flanders, France and Italy. The little codex was presumably a kind of recommendation of his repertoire to his main principal.
Fol. 10r: In the initial an annunciation of Mary with foliate scrolls in a Dutch style, and two angels with a coat of arms each.
