Floral still-life painting featuring a dense and highly colored arrangement of exotic flowers in a stoneware vase on a marble balustrade. A tall, trumpet-shaped white blossom extends from center upwards toward the right accentuating the diagonal slant of the bouquet’s principal axis. Adjacent to this is a flame lily with its twisted scarlet petals. Other flowers in the composition include a pink and white oleander at center left, a vibrant cluster of coral honeysuckle at lower left, and a prickly pear cactus, at center bottom rests on the ledge. A pale yellow butterfly hovers next to a star-shaped carrion flower at the lower left. The arrangement is set against a neutral gray background, which offers a glimpse of a garden with a classicizing statue at right.
