Still life with apples and pomegranate

Donnino Pozzi depicts a modest woven wicker basket of apples. The reference to Caravaggio's basket of fruit is strong but Pozzi decides to show a modest harvest of apple instead of a great variety of fruit. The elegant and balanced composition is characterized by a warm and vivid palette. The red and yellow colors of the apples and the green of the fig leaf shine in the foreground: they express the painter's great chromatic sensitivity.
