This pillow, placed inside a coffin, was for a person buried in a tomb during the mid- to late-Kofun Period (375-538 CE). The pillow has raised sides and a depression in the middle for placing the head. On the raised sides of the pillow are small holes for short rods with decorations. There are also pillows made from hollowed stone with only a simple design for the head.
