Named after the Ohio cheese and butter manufacturer who gave the initial endowment for the school, Straight University was founded in 1868 on Canal Street in the Mid-City area of New Orleans. In 1934, Straight merged with New Orleans University to form Dillard University. Pictured is the commencement program from the graduating class of 1892.
