Sunrise at the lagoon

The oil on panel, signed on the lower left by Guglielmo Ciardi, shows the Venetian lagoon at sunrise. The light of dawn can be seen below the clouds on the horizon, reflected in the calm sea of dawn, as the seagulls soar. A boat, with the sails gathered in the foreground, is tied to the quay of the port. The clear brightness of the early morning atmosphere is given by the pastel turquoise of the sea and sky.
