Susan Polgar (born in 1969) is a Hungarian-American chess grandmaster who was Women’s World Chess Champion from 1996 to 1999. At age 15, she became the top-ranked female chess player in the world in July 1984. In 1991, she became the third woman to be awarded the Grandmaster title by FIDE. She has won eleven medals at the Women’s Chess Olympiad, including four gold, four silver, and three bronze.
