This is a Jōmon Period (16,500-3,000 BCE) personal accessory made from the tusks of a wild boar. During the Jōmon Period, many accessories were created from the bones, teeth, and tusks of animals. Since similar accessories are often excavated from the chest area of people buried during the Jōmon Period, it is assumed that this accessory is part of a pendant.
