Lake Abana was a popular leisure spot for Atlantans in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. One popular feature of the lake was Swan Island. Lake Abana was a popular spot for swimming, boating and more. The lake was dredged and filled in the 1960s with the expansion of Zoo Atlanta.
