Fragment of linen dyed purple. On a purple background are four strings of Arabic script in gold over narrow, white, vertical lines arranged evenly all over the background. The edges are finished with a hem and it is lined with ocher, cotton fabric with a taffeta weave.
This is part of the same text that appears in pieces CE088496 and CE088496. It begins with the usual Koranic invocation, "bismillah al-rahman al-rahim" ("in the name of God, the Merciful and Compassionate"). Each line is repeated in turn on the fabric.
