Horizontal, rectangular piece. Green velvet background with different shades of color. Its design is in the negative and consists of three bands: two smaller ones with a plant design framing the central band made up of a large floral motif with scrolls and two birds. Vase motifs with scrolls and fantastical animals appear on both sides. The edges are finished with a hem and it is lined with a brown supporting fabric.
It reproduces a renaissance valance with scrolls and fantastical animals in the style woven in Europe, and especially in Italy, with which Fortuny was most familiar in the 16th century.
