Sweet Gum

Wow-How

Native to the southeastern United States, these deciduous hardwood trees range in height from 60 to 100 feet. The name refers to the fragrant resin or “gum” that the trees produce, which is used as a medicine and in chewing gum. At the peak of the fall foliage season, the star-shaped leaves turn red, purple, yellow, and orange—all on the same tree.
